Who Makes Kirkland Golf Balls? It’s not who you think…

I remember when I first started golfing, I had no idea what was good and what wasn’t when it came to brands, especially with golf balls.

I often find myself exploring different brands and types of popular golf balls. But one brand that has caught my attention was Kirkland.

You may be familiar with Kirkland as a brand from trips to any local Costco, but did you know they have their own line of golf equipment, more specifically, golf balls? In fact, a quick review Google search will find people all over Reddit and GolfWorx forums singing the praise of Kirkland golf balls.

Due to this fanfare, I was curious to find out who exactly makes these balls. Who makes Kirkland Golf balls?

I discovered that these golf balls are actually manufactured by a company called Qingdao SM Parker in China. They are a giant company that specializes in making golf equipment.

I must admit, I was pretty intrigued by the quality of these golf balls, considering their affordable price.

But let’s go a little deeper about this brand and why they have this crazy rumor about how Titleist may or may not have sued them (seriously) for patent infringement.

Who Makes Kirkland Golf Balls

About Qingdao SM Parker

When I first discovered Kirkland golf balls, I read that Costco itself manufactures these balls.

However, it turns out that Qingdao is a “big-player” in the golf ball manufacturer’s industry, and their partnership with Costco is mainly to license the product for sale under the in-house Kirkland brand.

However, when it comes to Kirkland golf balls, they do happen to be a decent combination of affordability and performance.

That is what piqued my curiosity about this brand.

Essentially, by producing quality balls in China (which is where Kirkland golf balls are made), Qingdao can take advantage of lower production costs, allowing them to offer these products at a more budget-friendly price.

Qingdao SM Parker golf balls (or simply Kirkland’s) are an excellent option for golfers looking for something that comes off the club well and just simply keeps going cutting through the air!

Are Kirkland Golf Balls Made By Titleist?

No.

Kirkland golf balls are not manufactured by Titleist but instead by the aforementioned Chinese giant company, Qingdao SM Parker.

Now that we’ve cleared that up, Kirkland golf balls have a clear connection with Titleist.

There was a bit of confusion surrounding the manufacturing of Kirkland golf balls, and many people believed that Kirkland balls were actually produced by Titleist due to some insane similarities in quality and build quality.

And Titleist Pro V1 just feels different off a driver.

Many balls do not have that same feel. It’s uncanny, really…

But while playing with Kirkland balls, I noticed how they had a soft feel and impressive distance, which reminded me of my experience with Titleist’s Pro V1 balls.

It turns out that Kirkland golf balls are designed with a four-piece construction, similar to the Titleist Pro V1, but at a fraction of the cost.

These two balls are similar, and the reason behind this is the use of a urethane cover, which enhances the ball’s spin and control around the greens.

This feature is commonly found in premium balls like Titleist Pro V1 and Callaway Chrome Soft (another favorite of mine)

As much as I like Kirkland golf balls and think they are an excellent choice for new and experienced golfers alike, some might still prefer the well-established reputation of Titleist or other well-known golf ball brands.

I am still in the “losing too many balls during rounds” phase of my game, so springing for pricey Titleist balls just to see them careen into the woods is not a favorite practice of mine.

So even though I would rather Pro V1’s, I am OK with hitting Kirkland’s as well.

What Type of Golf Ball Is Kirkland Signature?

Performance and Design

I won’t lie, I’m cheap.

Which doesn’t usually bode well for golf, lol.

But value is a top priority and this budget golf ball does not disappoint.

However, in my research, I’ve found that these balls offer a 3-piece golf ball called the Kirkland Performance+.

I quickly learned that while this ball doesn’t quite match the excellent performance of the Pro-V1 golf balls, it does offer an impressive playing experience for its price.

The Kirkland Performance and Performance+ have a urethane cover, which provides an excellent feel and control around the greens.

I even noticed an improvement in my short game when using these balls versus others, largely due to the increased spin.

Durability and Construction

Durability is another notable feature of Kirkland golf balls.

Throughout my rounds, I’ve found these balls last, even after multiple strikes with my driver, wedges or even hitting them into trees and having them bounce back at 1,000mph, seemingly.

They seemed to maintain their performance characteristics and showed minimal wear and tear.

One thing I also appreciate about the Kirkland Performance+ is its consistent flight in various conditions.

I’ve played with these golf balls in windy, rainy, and clear conditions, and they always provided reliable and predictable ball flight.

This level of consistency has not only improved my scoring but also increased my confidence on the course regardless of having a slower or faster swing speed.

One of the main concerns some golfers have when purchasing budget-friendly golf balls is whether they can withstand the test of time (or, more appropriately, rounds).

This gives them an edge over some other budget options in the market, making them a smart choice for golfers who prioritize long-lasting equipment and golf clubs.

What Are Kirkland Golf Balls Equivalent To?

It turns out that Kirkland golf balls are often compared to the Titleist Pro V1x, and for good reason!

However, I think it’s important to note that Kirkland balls are more of a budget-friendly option, and thus, their goal is not necessarily to dethrone the Pro V1x in performance.

When I started comparing the different aspects of Kirkland golf balls to other brands, I noticed a few interesting similarities. For example, the Kirkland Signature 3-piece golf ball, officially known as Kirkland Performance+, is their most popular offering on the market.

Distance

In terms of distance and feel, I found that the Kirkland Performance balls had quite a few similarities to other well-known golf balls.

Some alternatives that I’ve noticed are the Srixon Soft Feel Golf Balls, TaylorMade, and Noodle Long & Soft Golf Balls.

These golf balls share some common traits in terms of their soft feel and the distance they provide, but each brand has unique characteristics that could appeal to different golfers.

If you’re someone who’s into high-spin golf balls, you might wonder if the Kirkland golf balls are close to any high-end tour balls in terms of spin rates.

While they may not match the spin of Titleist Pro V1x, they do offer good spin control.

Kirkland balls are often compared to top-tier balls in terms of spin performance, although there might be some differences depending on the player’s skill level and preferences.

In summary, while Kirkland golf balls might not be equivalent to the absolute best tour-level golf balls on the market, they definitely hold their ground against other popular offerings. T

Their soft feel, distance, durability, and performance make them a solid option for golfers who seek a balance between cost-efficiency and quality.

In Conclusion and what to do…

In conclusion, Kirkland golf balls are manufactured by Costco and they are here loud and proud to improve your individual shot.

These high-quality golf balls have gained popularity among golfers for their performance and affordability.

I like them a lot and If you’re interested in purchasing Kirkland golf balls, you can find them on Amazon or at Costco themselves.
