You’ve likely heard of the Kirkland Signature balls, and in many ways, they are the “poor man’s” Pro-V’s (yes, they are that good)

But let’s take a good look at these bad boys…

Spoiler Alert:

Kirkland golf balls have built a reputation as a top-performing option that won’t hurt your wallet. They offer excellent distance and precision control while maintaining a soft feel around the greens.

Although they can be hard to find due to their popularity, they’re worth considering if you’re looking for an affordable alternative to expensive brands.

The Reputation of Kirkland Signature

Kirkland golf balls are known for their affordability, quality, and performance.

I came across these totally by accident…. but they were first introduced by Costco in 2016 and quickly gained popularity due to their low price point compared to other premium brands like Titleist or Callaway.

But I was blown away when I tried them for the first time. They offer similar performance metrics as other top-tier golf ball brands at only a fraction of the cost.

It’s important to point out that you will need to actually hit these balls in order to get the most out of them.

Do not buy these, thinking that the balls themselves will make you a better golfer. They will just react to the golf clubs better.

What are Kirkland Golf balls? My Overview

Kirkland golf balls were designed by engineers who have worked with some of the most well-known brands in the industry, including Titlest.

The team utilized advanced technology and materials to create a high-performance ball that provides excellent distance and precision without sacrificing feel or control.

The company saw an opportunity to disrupt the market with its own brand that would rival more expensive options without compromising on quality.

So they contracted a company in China called Qingdao SM Parker to start making balls for them.

They ended up becoming some of the leading balls in the golf industry.

Kirkland Signature Pricing & Availability

So how much are Kirkland Golf balls?

Kirkland Signature’s original three-piece golf balls with urethane cover model are in a very good price range, offered at $29.99 for two dozen when they were first introduced in 2016 – an incredibly competitive price point compared to other leading brands on the market offering similar performance metrics.

However, today, these golf balls at Costco are usually available throughout the year, but only while supplies last and will vary by location. That may sound weird, but that is just the way Costco works.

Like any of the big box stores, Kirkland Signature golf balls are only sold in bulk.

Being available in bulk can sometimes present a problem as it’s a great opportunity for frequent golfers who go through multiple boxes of balls each season, but for the casual player who doesn’t play as often, the bulk packages may not make sense financially.

I bought myself a couple of dozen of these premium golf balls off Amazon and still haven’t gone through them completely.

Design Features and Consistency

Kirkland’s design features are geared towards providing high-performance characteristics such as increased distance, spin control, and soft feel thanks to the soft urethane cover.

Kirkland’s are urethane-covered golf balls that provide excellent durability while still allowing for maximum feel around the greens.

Additionally, they feature aerodynamic dimple patterns that help reduce drag for increased ball speed during flight to increase distance.

Pricing Comparison

One area where Kirkland golf balls really stand out is the price point. At around $20 to $25 per dozen on Amazon (when available), they’re not expensive golf balls by any means… In fact, they are significantly cheaper than many other premium ball options on the market.

Competitors like Titleist or Callaway can cost more than twice as much per dozen, which is wild to me. But when you hit a Titleist ProV golf ball, you may understand way.

But sheesh… half the price and 85% of the performance are good enough for me.

Many consumers are drawn to this price point as it allows them to purchase high-quality golf balls without breaking the bank. The lower cost has made Kirkland an affordable option for golfers of all skill levels who want to experience the benefits of a premium ball.

For comparison’s sake, a popular golf ball like the Titleist Pro V1s typically retail for over $50 per dozen, while Callaway Chrome Softs are priced about the same.

For anyone that is a beginner, this price difference can really add up over time, especially for a golfer like me that can and will send a few dozen into the woods.

Performance of Kirkland Signature’s

Distance

When it comes to distance, Kirkland golf balls perform very well.

They have a large core that helps provide maximum energy transfer upon impact with the clubface.

This results in balls that travel farther than most other brands, enabling golfers to hit longer drive off the tee, pretending they are V1 golf balls!

On average, Kirkland golf balls can add as much as 5-10 yards to your drives compared to other popular brands.

Spin

Kirkland golf balls produce a mid-range spin on both iron and wedge shots, but again, only if you are an expert worried about the spin. I’m still working on contacting the ball consistently, lol.

But due to testing, they are suitable for players of different skill levels who want more control over their ball flight and landing position on the green.

Feel

One of the standout features I like most about these babies is their soft feel around the greens.

They have a low compression rating which gives them a soft feel when struck by a clubface.

This is especially true when chipping and putting, where you can distinctly feel the ball compressing against your putter or wedge face before rolling toward its intended destination.

Accuracy

Another area where Kirkland golf balls excel is accuracy. The ball’s design helps reduce sidespin and maintain straighter flight paths during long shots off the tee or approach shots into greens.

In addition, due to their low compression rating and soft feel on impact with clubs, they enable better control over direction when hitting shorter shots around greens.

Kirkland vs. Other Brands

Kirkland golf balls hold their own in terms of performance metrics like distance and accuracy.

However, they may not match up to some of the more expensive brands when it comes to more technical spin rates or feel off the clubface.

Honestly, I just play for fun, so this doesn’t bother me one bit.

They are cost-effective, but if you’re a golfer who values a particular feel or spin rate over price, then you may want to experiment with other options.

Overall, Kirkland golf balls offer solid performance metrics at a significantly lower price point than most other brands.

They are suitable for golfers of all skill levels who want an affordable option that does not compromise on quality and distance.

However, before choosing Kirkland as your go-to ball brand, it’s important to try them out first and see if their unique feel and playability suit your game. Meaning, don’t just take my word for it.

My Overall Experience and Performance

Kirkland Golf Balls have received high praise from both amateur and professional golfers for their overall performance on the course.

I tend to get similar distances and spin rates compared to more expensive brands while still providing a soft feel around the greens.

The durability of these golf balls is also noteworthy. On a good day, I can play more than half a round with the same ball, provided I did not hit it in the woods… (a recurring theme around here).

But they will show normal wear and tear as you use them.

Overall, Kirkland Golf Balls offer exceptional value for their price point and are definitely worth considering for any golfer looking to improve their game without breaking the bank.

The Pros and Cons of Using Kirkland Golf Balls

As with any product, however, there are pros and cons to using these balls on the course.

The Advantages of Using This Product

  • Cost-effectiveness -Compared to other high-end brands like Titleist or Callaway, Kirkland balls are significantly cheaper while still providing similar performance benefits.
  • Durability – many golfers have reported that Kirkland balls hold up well over time and maintain their performance throughout multiple rounds.
  • Soft feel on impact – making them a good choice for players who prefer a more “forgiving” ball.

I do not prefer the look and design of Kirkland golf balls compared to other brands.

Aestechicially, I like the Titleist, and even the Callaways overall look better than the Kirkland. But to tell you the truth, it really doesn’t matter what the balls look like.

The Disadvantages of Using Kirkland Golf Balls

  • Distance – they do not seem the get the optimal distance that a Pro V1 would get (or even Callaways), but it doesn’t make the biggest difference to me.
  • Lack of Pop – I can definitely attest to this… the “pop” off the clubface with Kirkland balls is not as pronounced as when I hit a Titleist.

Additionally, some players simply may not enjoy the feel of Kirkland golf balls on their shots. This is largely a matter of personal preference, but it’s worth noting that some golfers have found them to be too “soft” or lacking in feedback.

While the cheaper price point is certainly an advantage for many players, it could also be seen as a negative factor by some.

Some golfers may associate higher prices with better quality and performance and may prefer to invest in more expensive brands as a result.

Comparison with Other Brands

Performance Comparison

When it comes to performance, Kirkland golf balls have certainly made a name for themselves in the golfing community. But how do they stack up against other popular brands like Titleist or Callaway? Well, from what we’ve found, it’s a mixed bag.

In terms of distance off the tee, Kirkland golf balls hold their own against some of the bigger players in the game. They’re known for producing low spin rates, which can translate to longer drives for some players.

However, they may not offer as much control over the greens as other brands. When it comes to feel and overall playability, Kirkland golf balls are often compared to Titleist Pro V1s.

They both have a soft feel and are easy to work with on approach shots and around the greens. However, some players may prefer a firmer ball like Callaway Chrome Soft for more consistent feedback on their swings.

Design Comparison

Design-wise, Kirkland golf balls are fairly simplistic compared to other brands. They come in a basic white color with minimal markings or logos, but I have seen a few variants floating around that were yellow.

This minimalist design can be appealing to some players who prefer a clean slate when addressing their shots. On the other hand, brands like Titleist and Callaway offer more options when it comes to design.

For example, Titleist offers custom logos or personalization options on their Pro V1s for an extra fee. And Callaway’s Chrome Soft has various color options that can add some personality to your bag.

Overall Value Comparison

Ultimately, the decision of which golf ball to use comes down to personal preference and priorities. For some players, the feel and performance of a ball may be worth the extra cost.

But for others looking to save some money without sacrificing too much on performance, Kirkland golf balls could be a great option. At the end of the day, it’s important to try out different brands and see what works best for you and your game.

Golf is all about finding what suits you best, whether it’s equipment or technique. So don’t be afraid to experiment with different brands and find your perfect fit.

Testing Process

If you’re wondering how Kirkland ensures quality in its golf balls, it’s worth noting that they go through rigorous testing before hitting store shelves.

I love these balls and would use them alongside a Pro V, depending on how confident I am that day.

This attention to detail helps ensure consistency from ball to ball – something that’s incredibly important in the world of golf.

The Debate Over Spin

It’s worth noting that there is some debate in the golfing community over the spin characteristics of Kirkland golf balls.

While many players praise these balls for their exceptional spin control on approach shots, others have noted that they can be difficult to control on full shots due to excessive spin.

Of course, this will depend largely on individual swing styles and preferences – but it’s an interesting point to consider if you’re thinking about trying out Kirkland golf balls for yourself.

Alternatives for Kirkland

If you’re looking for alternatives to Kirkland golf balls, some of the most popular options include:

  • Titleist Pro V1s
  • Callaway Chrome Softs
  • TaylorMade TP5s a d
  • Bridgestone Tour B RXS.

All of these offer higher performance than Kirkland golf balls and maybe a better fit for your game.

Additionally, if you’re looking for something even more affordable than Kirkland golf balls, the Srixon Soft Feel is a great budget option with excellent performance.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

After thorough research and analysis, it’s clear that Kirkland golf balls are a solid choice for me or any golfer looking for a quality product at an affordable price.

But does it pass the smell test… Well, yes, they do in a big way.

They don’t have the same prestige as other high-end brands, but Kirkland golf balls deliver in terms of performance and value and hold their own against other popular brands.

They provide ample distance off the tee, spin well around the greens, and offer a soft feel on impact.

They can even take a beating, albeit not as much as the ProV1s.

For the price, Kirkland golf balls are hard to beat.

\With a price point significantly lower than other comparable products on the market, they allow golfers on a budget to still enjoy quality equipment without overspending.

Ultimately though, choosing which brand of golf ball is right for you is going to be highly dependent upon your personal preferences and playing style, and as great as these are… I still prefer Callaway and Titleist.
