Best Golf Cart Enclosures To Keep You Dry and Warm

Last updated on April 30, 2020 by Chris SlocumLeave a Comment

Are you researching the best golf cart enclosures for your golf cart? In this article I’ll share with you my research and which one I ended up going with.

Today, golf carts aren’t just for the links anymore, everywhere you go there are golf carts:

  • Festivals
  • The beach
  • Schools
  • Workplaces
  • Whole neighborhoods are being built as golf cart friendly areas.

I think this is a great idea for a couple of reasons….

  1. Cuts down on carbon emissions
  2. They are a lot of fun, and
  3. Well, simply, because I own one and love to drive it around.

Why a Golf Cart Enclosure

One thing that I didn’t have on my cart when we first got it was an enclosure. And you might think that it really isn’t a big deal to have one since you probably wouldn’t use it much…..well neither did I….

UNTIL

You see we have this great little neighborhood pub/restaurant that we love to meet up with friends and we always take our cart. It’s easy and much quicker than the car.

Well, it was wintertime (in Florida) and we aren’t really accustomed to the cold weather. We drove home and we were freezing!!!! After that night, I started researching for an enclosure the very next day.

I wasn’t going to be cold, get wet, or not use my golf cart in iffy weather, so I felt like this was a good solution for our needs. Turns out I was right, and I’m so happy we decided to get one for our cart. We have used it more times than we thought we would, which also means we don’t have to leave our cart locked up in the garage because of bad weather.

What to look for with golf cart enclosures

There are some things to look for when you are shopping for just the right enclosure. It may seem obvious but you need to make sure the one you are looking at will fit your cart. We wrote about how wide a golf cart is here.

You need to make sure it’s for a two seater, four seater, or more if you happen to have a bigger one.

Another BIG thing is to make sure you have the proper set up for the enclosure, which usually means a hardtop roof.

And you also want to make sure there are plenty of “doors”, that way you can roll up one or two for extra ventilation if you want or you can have multiple ways of entering and exiting. (that’s important if you have multiple riders…..:)

Here are a few that I looked at and the one i decided on…

Classic Accessories Fairway Golf Cart Deluxe Enclosure

This enclosure fits most 2 person carts that are 68″ or shorter. If you need something longer, make sure you select the Long Roof size. The long roof size will cover up to 80″.  Made with Gardell fabric that doesn’t shrink and is water proof. It has great zippers for the enclosure so you can keep everything zipped up on the rainy, cold days and unzip it when the weather is nicer.

Pros:

  • Windshield has an easy zip down design
  • Fits securely for the sizes specified
  • Removable doors

Cons:

  • For some, the size was off so make sure you get the size for your cart

Golf Cart Driving Enclosure for 4 Passengers

The Formosa fits most 2 and 4 seat golf carts with 80″ roof length. Although it doesn’t fit the Yamaha Drive model, it should work for the Yamaha G, EZgo, and Club Car.

Pros:

  • Great value for the money
  • Velcro straps hold doors open after rolling towards the front

Cons:

  • The size in the back put people off because it was too long in the back
  • Zippers stuck for some

DoorWorks Champion Four Sided Golf Cart Enclosure

This one didn’t have many reviews, honestly. But I really liked the color and will probably get this to do a video review on it in the near future. As with most, it comes with a 3 year warranty. Looking through the reviews, it seems a lot of people forget that all of these enclosures have a long warranty period.

Fits most EZgo, Yamaha, and Club Cars.

Pros:

  • Different Colors to choose from
  • Portable carrying case

Cons:

  • Not as well known brand

Which Golf Cart Enclosure We Picked

So I decided to go with the Fairway Cover after doing my research. It seemed to fit all my requirements and it was within a reasonable price. I am more than happy with the cover.

We’ve had it for three years and it still looks like new. We leave it on all the time and just roll the sides up when it isn’t in use.

The material has held up great and the vinyl windows are still clear as can be…..overall I am super happy with the product. It also had different sizes for the roof fit. There are several different lengths of roof so it was nice to be able to get the proper one for my cart.

If I had to say anything about it, I wish the bottom fit a little more snug or that I could secure the bottom a little more. But I know that it’s not a custom fitted enclosure.

Overall, I really satisfied with this enclosure. It has afforded us the use of our cart in most weather which is really nice since we love to take rides around our neighborhood, visit the local pub, and when we take it on vacation behind our motor home we know we will always have a way to get around and stay warm, dry, and happy. Hope this helps when you are looking for the perfect cover for your golf cart.
